Is there really a climate crisis?

I think it's all made up because the government are not doing anything about it

So I work in a research university and some people I've worked with research climate change impact on the local environment.

Are my friends and colleagues incompetent or liars?

@ExtremeNext I am seriously asking you this.

I'm their union representative. So if there is research fraud going on I need to be aware; there are very serious legal consequences.

Also, they have academic freedom which is full legal right to say whatever they want with zero interference from their dean or the government. So if their independence as researchers is compromised, I need to be aware of it.
