How much can people's opinions really be changed?

in YOUR opinion?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Most opinions are based on nothing more than a like or dislike of an 'ideal'.
But since we don't live in a world of ideals, only realities, you have to try and explain to folk that their 'perception' of said reality may not necessarily be real !

We have exactly this problem as a NATION at the moment with regard to E:U membership !

Next thing you know, you’ll be asking me to change my opinion on my opinion. Not happening. 😛
@Ambroseguy80 Nope.

What's with the paranoia?

I just wanted to see how people thought about this FASCINATING subject.

Ever wonder HOW people's opinions change?
Ambroseguy80 · 51-55, M
@Stilltryinghard hmmm no. It’s usually follow the herd mentality on that I think. I was just being funny. Sorry you took it as serious. ;)
@Ambroseguy80 Social Psychology is a SERIOUS pursuit and I for one and fascinated.

There's a LOT to how and why we change our ideas. And more where that comes from RE: why "we" do anything as a society or group...
not much by debate.
personal experiences, though, can change opinions.
@gobacktoyourroomandstudy Can u give a specific example or two??
@Stilltryinghard sensitive topics. sorry.

100% every few years.. as long as you don't remind them of their opinion few years back..
@in10RjFox hahahahahah!!
@in10RjFox that is BA material.
They only change as much as the ppl allow them to change...

the vastest ocean rises with a single from of rain!
@DiegoWolfe you mean with a single DROP ?

That would take a long time that way.
rjc36 · 56-60, M
You can't force someone to change their opinions. You can only give them information and they have to process it and see if it makes them except alternative ideas on whatever subject it is. Just my opinion.
@rjc36 look at my answer to Ambroseguy.

Where does all this defensiveness come from?

It is a NEUTRAL question.
ButterRobot · 51-55, M
If the person is rational, they can be changed. A lot of people aren’t particularly rational however.
@ButterRobot What is rationality?

What is the process of opinion change in YOUR opinion?
ButterRobot · 51-55, M
@Stilltryinghard an opinion based on logic. And to change an opinion a good start is to argue the facts.
@ButterRobot LOL!!!!!!
