To think this is rude?

I told a female friend who is 5'3, 'God, have you shrunk?' As she looked tinier than ever. She looked pissed off and later said she was pissed off and that I made her feel unattractive?!
Was I really that rude? It was meant to be funny

Yep, kind of rude.

What if she has said "God have you gotten fatter"? I mean same idea, just a different physical trait. I think most people would have thought that was pretty rude.

Yeah, it's rude. Poking fun at a person's appearance is always rude

🤦🏻‍♀️ Have you not learned anything about women? Compliments only to the ones you want to keep in your life .

Did you apologize ? Send her something good ? ( chocolate ) 😉

I think she’s overreacting. Probably sensitive about her height.
ThePerfectUsername · 70-79, M
Yeah you were.

It was extremely rude. She's probably sensitive about her height to begin with, since people love pointing it out; and you, her supposed friend, went even further in doing so. You're lucky she ever speaks to you again.

I thought it would be funny. I don't find her attractive but I don't see how its made her feel ugly

@BluePlanet she said unattractive, not ugly those are not necessarily the same thing. It doesn't matter if you get it or not you offended her. playful teasing or not you scored a direct hit. her telling you about it is actually a good sign take her seriously apologize sincerely making it clear you meant no disrespect and things should be ok. Be careful about joking especially at the workplace. it is one thing to joke around with friends but a captive audience at work where you can lose your job it may be wise to error on the side of caution.

@BluePlanet right! "I don't see..." and therein lies the problem
texasdaddydom · 56-60, M
Yeah she could be sensitive about her height apologize and forget it
