What happens when one of the pair of conjoined twins dies?

I'm genuinely curious what they do when one of the pair of conjoined twins dies. You can't let the other continue on until the rotting body they are connected to kills em. So then what?

They share one or more of the same vital organs, hence being conjoined. They both die.
