I like that police dogs get nice funerals but I would hope my family's would be just as nice if not better in some way

I can see the funerals for police but not dogs. People are much more important.

Dogs are dogs.
They can’t help if police put them in the line of fire.
It has more to do with police cowardice than dog bravery imo.
The police do it out of guilt.
