Common wisdom says not to talk about religion or politics

But are they not the only things that are truly worth talking about?

"One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors." -Plato-

"Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws." -Plato-

"In our age there is no such thing as 'keeping out of politics.' All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia.." -George Orwell-

“The great enemy of truth is very often not the lie--deliberate, contrived and dishonest--but the myth--persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the cliches of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought." -JFK-

1. In this time, we have a history of performance on most political parties. They lie to get in, then lie as to why they did not do what they said they would. This is all parties, be they left or right.
2. Never wait for a government to fix, what you can fix yourself.
3. More is achieved by private enterprise. As an example in Australia, "Oz Harvest" set up to collect food (unused) from restaurants, cafe, supermarkets, to pick up, then distribute to charity feeding for the homeless.

We get more done with charity than our own governments can.

You vote as you vote, that's your personal choice. Just don't make others wrong for who they vote.

To be happy
You cant be happy if you make you " right" and others wrong.

No, there are other things that are worth talking about too. Health and human psychology, to name just a couple of things.

Yes but extremists always highjack the conversation.
