What are reasons the homeless are ignored by society at large in the U.S.?

Oh you said society ... sorry read it wrong. People don’t like to look at poverty, they’re used to indulgence and material objects too much. They see homeless people and look the other way as though it is contagious. Ignore them because they have more “important” things to do and better things to spend their money on
