People 30+, what's something that happened back your day?

I remember dial-up internet, where the phone and internet were on the same line, and if someone in your house wanted to use the phone you had to stop using the internet for a bit 馃榿.

I remember transistor radios and listening to AM radio for the latest hits. If you really liked a song, you got out your portable tape recorder and microphone to record it. If your tape recorder was running on batteries and the batteries were failing, playback of the song with new batteries was all distorted. Loved it all though.

@Peapod I almost wrote that...1959...Boston..a tiny white plastic transistor radio made by GE you could put under your pillow at night real sneaky like and listen to Arnie WooWoo Ginsberg!

@Fernie I snuck my little yellow transistor radio to summer camp with a plug in earbud that went into one ear. No one knew I had it and it helped me sleep at night.

I also remember the static if there was any lightning in the area. It was kind of fun listening to storms approaching that way.

It really did take so little to entertain us in the day.

@Peapod Well said! We could entertain ourselves in so many ways..we were NOT screenagers. I remember the static and also...on a clear night you could get stations from NY. Can't do that anymore with this damn bossy digital...I miss analog.

@Fernie ahhh...yes, the thrill of being able to lay there late at night and tune into a station that was far away. I really loved that too.

@Stereoguy It really was a thrill, especially if they started playing something you hadn't heard in a while.

@Stereoguy Yes, yes, yes! They really did do that and it drove me nuts. I finally began buying 45's because of all my failed attempts of getting a great version of my favorite songs.

@Peapod 45's!!!!! didn't we have piles of them in their little jackets!
