Channel4 in the UK did a brilliant study in a programme called Equinox about 20 years ago.
Looking at disastrous situations like a ferry capsizing at night. Or being assaulted on your way home. And how those involved behaved at the time, and whether the action they took actually helped save their lives. Or increased the likelihood of their situation worsening.
