Misconceptions about feminist movements ?

People generally have a false notion that the feminists aim to build a world where males are reduced to the status of animals and obedient house pets.
It's not true. Rather it is targeting a world full of harmony where women are treated fairly.

Modern feminism is absolutely not about “targeting a world full of harmony where women are treated fairly”.

Firstly, the world will never be harmonious (to have a world comprised entirely of harmony, would require all types of people to “get along”, which is not only implausible but impossible because of how human psychology works), and then there is the rather rudimentary fact that women are already treated “fairly”. In truth, women have many privileges that men do not.

@ahiyaa That depends on which part of the world you are from. In backward and developing countries situation is not that fair.

@ahiyaa So I would be just as safe walking around a rough neighbourhood at night as you would?

@BoldSam Modern feminism is rarely applied to third (or indeed second) world countries, though. The reason why is because western feminism, as it is now, almost entirely revolves around ideology — as opposed to “cause”. A cause is practical, and of logical necessity, but because feminism in the western world has exhausted itself of any value — precisely because women now have equal rights — it has quite literally lost its way and become focused on superficial social manifestations. What happens to women in countries that are less developed is of true cause, but the vast majority of modern-day feminists could not care less about their plight.

@ahiyaa That's exactly my concern is. The bad feminists exists in places where there is no genuine problems to address. Because of that there is a misconception and the women who are in real need don't get their dues. Fight for equality should focus more on the women who are suffering and don't have any freedom rather that fighting for the rights to drink and smoke.

@BoldSam This is correct.

@ahiyaa Your assessment of modern feminism in the West is spot on.
