What phrases did you used to hear that you rarely/don't hear anymore?

This was inspired by someone who said they didn't hear "it beggars belief!" anymore and dared me to say it in everyday conversation.

To be honest I don't use a lot of these "phrases" (or whatever the term is) but once I had a half-foreign friend who wasn't familiar with well known ones like once in a full moon and it made me think generally people use them quite a lot in everyday speech without thinking about it.

"It's a bit black over Will's mother's'
Meaning it looks like rain in the distance.
"That was a Potten End shuffle !"
When you're playing cards and you get dealt a bad hand.
"Sixpence spent for a Haporth of tar"
Meaning you spent more than whatever it was worth.

I lived with my Grandfather and one of his was "I'm off to see a man about a dog" ! Whenever he was going out and you asked him where he was going.
Never saw him with one though !

Probably loads if I think about it.
