Were you ever worried about the thought of getting married?

I have no doubt in my mind that I have never loved a man more, nor has a man loved me more.
I have no doubt in his honesty and our friendship.
What frightens me is the question- ''will it always be like this?'' I understand people change and every relationship has tribulations, God knows our has in the past survived so much over the few years.Yet we are still standing,loving each other more then ever before because WE HAVE LEARNED. Is this the key? Did we master the key to a successful relationship?
A person can never have a warranty on a long life promise or can they? I have never let anyone too close to me, without getting hurt so this is a HUGE step for me.
I have some personal trauma due to my mother marrying and divorcing in her lifetime more then I could keep up. I think this is why I am thinking this through so thoroughly. This actually means something very important to me.

Are you long past the adrenalin rush of falling in love stage? And past the can’t keep your hands off each other always leaping into bed stage? Is he your best friend? Do you like him as much as you love him? Visualise him as an old man, his physical attributes faded, long past his physical peak. Can you still imagine wanting to cuddle up to him all night when you imagine that? Any desire to stray? Any feeling that you’ve not spread your wings and tasted adventure enough yet? Answer all those questions with total honesty and then you’ll hopefully be a little more sure one way or the other if your love will last through the decades.

@Helpinghands Great answer. Thank you.
@Optimisticbird you’re very welcome. I wish you the best of luck. Whatever happens, don’t rush the decision, it’s very important you think it over fully until you’re as sure as you can be. No rush, you’re young with time on your side.

@Helpinghands I am pretty sure in this decision. As sure as they come. I can't help having some insecurities due to some past experiences but I think I will get through them. We've been living together for 3 years almost so everything seems to be going by the book.
@Optimisticbird you sound pretty clear in your mind , good for you. And three years living together will be invaluable shared experience for you I’m sure. All the best to you both ☺️
