Is that a desperation thing or a wiser with age thing?

Yeah. I've seen that type and I've seen them change. Could have had something to do with the divorce and the fact that wife #2 was in a position to help them get a really cushy job with benefits.

@VioletRayne I got a weird vibe about that whole situation. I knew him and had worked around him and for him on job sites. I ran into him while he was going through the divorce and seemed to just be getting by. Next thing I knew he had moved to another town, married the mayor's secretary and got a job working for the city which also involved taking care of the mayor's personal projects on the city's time.

@VioletRayne It went beyond that. He called me up to come look at a project and I didn't know the details until I got there. That's when I learned his new job was city building inspector,the house I was going to look at belonged to the mayor, his new wife was the mayor's secretary and also acting as the interior decorator, and the house was being repaired using free labor from some half way house/rehab of some sort. It didn't take me long to figure out I didn't want any part of that situation.
