How do you initiate communication with the locals when you're hangin' in an unfamiliar part of town?

I usually say, "Yo, do you peeps know where a fella can score some Axe Bodyspray around here?" It both gives them an opportunity to feel good about themselves by helping me, and lets them know that I'm cool.
