SW-User Best Comment
sometimes. magnesium and exercise, mostly.
SW-User
@SW-User vitamin c is more effective against anxiety
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@SW-User Magnesium does help. Thanks for reminding me.
SW-User
@GeistInTheMachine adrenals use up vitamin c rapidly
SW-User
@GeistInTheMachine try magnesium taurate. it's the best form for anxiety. you can even try Taurine on it's own. i forgot to mention that before.
SW-User
@SW-User yes, they do... and though i don't supplement it often, i eat a truckload of foods high in it.
SW-User
@SW-User how about magnesium gluconate or glycinate. comparable?
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@SW-User Good advice.

I have magnesium in a supplement that has taurine and l-theanine, along with a few other things.
SW-User
@SW-User a bit, because all are chelated, which facilitates absorption, but look up Taurine. it's pretty great stuff for anxiety. it's kinda expensive as magnesium taurate, but you can just take one of the ones you mentioned and take Taurine on it's own. it's not like an antidepressant... it's like an anxiolytic. antidepressants can sometimes increase anxiety.
SW-User
@SW-User do you mean taurine on its own or the combination of both. i dont get which of the two is more calming
SW-User
@GeistInTheMachine i find l-theanine to be too stimulating, myself. but your supplement sounds really good, overall. also maybe try something like bananas. high in vit b6 and tryptophan. both increase serotonin in a gentle way.

i hope you'll be feeling much better very soon. :)
SW-User
@SW-User i mean buy Taurine and take it on it's own. a nice high dose of about 1,000 mgs. you can still take magnesium glycinate or gluconate. chelated magnesium, of almost any type, is going to get absorbed best. i take magnesium malate, because i have fibro, but i take some taurine at bedtime, with a snack. very sedating.

@SW-User Thank you very much. You're quite knowledgeable.

My supplement also contains Holy Basil, which is supposed to help increase serotonin as well.
SW-User
@GeistInTheMachine you're welcome.

i've tried holy basil before. it's pretty good, but i don't take a lot of herbs these days.

first thing i ever tried was this:

it's the absolute best supplement if you're having panic attacks. your post is bringing it all back to the forefront of my mind. i got off of benzo's taking this.
SW-User
@SW-User if your fibro hasnt resolved yet with the use of supplements please try gardening and work with earth. it'll help your body in ways
SW-User
@SW-User i'm open to the idea. it's a lot better than it used to be. exercise, eating organic, and magnesium malate and vit D3 have been the keys.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@SW-User Thanks. You've gone above and beyond in your replies.

I'm glad you were able to get off benzos. They're hard to kick.
SW-User
@GeistInTheMachine it really didn't feel like effort. i'm happy to help. :)

yes, they're hard to kick when you need them and don't know what else to do. i was motivated, though, and the Cortiguard was a-mazing. i was shocked at how it helped me, and if i found myself in that state again, it's the first thing i would do.

i wish you all the best, and, please, if any of this helps you, pay it forward.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@SW-User I will, thanks again. I'm feeling slightly better now that I've taken the magnesium supplement.

Negative thought loops were stressing me out.
SW-User
@GeistInTheMachine you're welcome again. :) i'm glad you're feeling better.

the mind is a powerful thing. so powerful. but you are in control. you can change your own mind. and do consider what @SW-User had to say about getting out in nature. you need sunshine, air, the earth... maybe a shoreline, birds, the horizon...
breath deeply and slowly, my friend.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@SW-User I should probably get out more - it's damned hot, though.

No shortage of sun, however.

You're right. I need to master my mind.
SW-User
@GeistInTheMachine it is hot. too damn hot. maybe go swimming.

just don't take it too far. we're animals. we need to move our bodies and be free. master your mind, but also let go of it all.

one last suggestion; martial arts. you will feel amazing after an hour and half in a dojo. would help with mind and body.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@SW-User True. I used to do Tae Kwon Do back in the day.

The hard part is indeed letting go.
SW-User
@GeistInTheMachine yeah... because anxiety is like a Chinese finger cuff. the more you pull away, the more you're trapped. so you let it be... and it lets you go.

i also like meditation videos on youtube.

@SW-User I really need to get over what's truly bothering me, but it looks like it's going to take more time.

I made some progress today, but it truly isn't easy. The anxiety and uncertainty comes back when I think I've started to let go.

Regardless, I'm rambling now.

Thank you for recommending ASMR. I used to listen to it often, and it looks like I need to go back to that.
SW-User
@GeistInTheMachine you've got a lot of insight, young man. i admire you for that.

yes, anxiety is a stubborn state. and it will wave on and off, until it subsides. if you've got the means, please do quit all other supplements, aside from magnesium and good foods, and get that Cortiguard, because you can't really address your issues until you can rest your mind. it's gonna be the best thing you ever did to regain control.

you're gonna make it to the other side. you're gonna be fine.
