Why do teachers get paid so little AND have to come out of pocket for supplies?

Because government doesn't make any money on them, money is what is valued, until this is changed things will remain as they are.

Teachers are important just like the Police are important to society's safety and development but unfortunately many people don't show enough respect for them.

Because governments don't want people educated sufficiently to see through thier lies and deceit! It would compromise thier power.

Ask your local county government to spend more of their budget on teacher salaries.

Teachers are paid fairly well in Ohio. But I do believe they should be subsidized, or given an allowance for supplies they provide for class.

Because schools are more concerned with their stupid sports teams...
