Yes, due to familial bond and social cohesiveness. They might live in perpetual Hell, but they live in it in a state of togetherness.

South Korea is the most unhappy place on the planet, also. They also drink like 10 [don't quote, at least 2-3x] times more than Russia. Overworked and isolated with mental illness neglect. Largest suicide rate in the world. Likely due to all the drinking, imo.
