Sure. Everyone is; I think. The familiar is a safety that is known. The unknown could kill you. Unfortunately, that fear also cripples a lot of people. I heard once that the cavemen who went out to investigate a noise in the darkness lived longer than the ones who just stayed put. The ones that stayed put felt safer, staying around their cozy campfire. But then they got eaten by a dinosaur.

I'm not afraid of it, I just don't like it very much.
