Suffer or die?

If someone you knew was terminally ill and they wanted to die, would you grant their wish and end their suffering or prolong it? Do you believe people should have a "right to die"?

I think that in extreme cases people should be allowed to die rather than suffer. However , I do not think that a person's loved one's should do the dead themselves. That has the potential to leave a mental scar for the rest of their lives.
I know a woman who helped her grandmother out in such a way and it bugs her mentally. One reason it bugs her is because she can't tell anyone about it except me.

@Wraithorn aww I feel for your friend, that should be done by a Dr or themselves.

@Jeephikelove I agree but the law prevented a doctor from doing it and her grandmother's religion forbade her to kill herself.

Ya its such a sensitive subject, but suffering with a terminal illness is worse. @Wraithorn

I work in 2 retirement facilities and I hear it every day. I walk into someone’s room to get them up and ready for the day. I ask how are they this morning and they respond “I wanna die.” @Wraithorn

@Jeephikelove Yes, it is a very sensitive subject. It's not really possible to decide how we would act until we are in that same position.

@Wraithorn Exactly!!!

@Jeephikelove It sounds like you have to deal with a rather wide range of intense emotions on a daily basis. Respect to you.

@Wraithorn Aww thank you 😊

@Jeephikelove Months ago I read a nice long, well written article by a woman who spent many yrs working in a hospice. She had some really interesting things to say about what people see, feel and say when they are close to death.
You probably have some similarly interesting stories.

@Wraithorn Oh most definitely, it’s funny how many just don’t give a shit and maybe for the first time in their lives say what’s really on their minds.

@Jeephikelove Yes ! That's one of the reasons I like old people. You can ask a question and very often get a straightforward and blunt answer. I enjoy that.

@Wraithorn Ya it’s refreshing, no bullshit. 😊
