How did you know what you wanted to do after high school?

Madhatter · 31-35, M
I looked in to my interests. I was interested in mental illness, so I went to college to study psychology. Then I worked professionally at it for a couple years and realized that the actual practice of it is not nearly as interesting as learning about it. Now I work part time making pizzas while I work on getting certified to teach. So, my advice? Just do something. Anything. It doesn't really matter. Life experiences will lead you where you need to be. In the meantime, just avoid sitting on your ass and you'll be fine.

I absolutely had no idea. I ended up going to a university to study economy and computer science and absolutely hated it. It gave me depression and i gave up after a year and then one year i stayed home. Now i study psychology and im much happier and more passionate. I guess what you have to do is think about what you enjoy doing and then figure out how to make a career out of that. If you have nothing that you like doing rn then start doing new things until you find it. Good luck x

My parents told me what to do; so I did that. 😎

I didn't. I go with the flow. And now I'm currently stuck with a job I'm enjoying. Hope it will last.
Because I didn't wait until after high school, I started working on degree #1 my senior year.
