Can you go to sleep without the TV on?

I'm single and very much in the habit of sleeping on my sofa with the tv on. I'm surprised my tv is still working although it's only 2 yrs old, because it's pretty much on 24/7. If not for me, then for my furbabies! If not shows, then for music! Maybe if I could fall asleep to crickets and summer night sounds, I could turn the damn tv off.
