Why do people ask about marriage at job interviews? :/

They want to know a little about you probably to see if you'll be a good fit and it might to them seem like a casual question to get a peek at your personality. Also sometimes people have different expectations and experiences with their employees when their single vs married...and it effects who they hire. And gives them a stereotypical idea of how things might go. It's a bit discriminatory....but there it is.

Honestly I agree with your answer because I never minded that questions in past interviews. But this was just a sucker punch to me. I was asked plenty of reasons for why I wasn't married yet. In our community people generally get married at younger age. Much younger then me. The ones who are late or have not yet married are judged very much. They think either I not from a good cultural background. Or they think I had bad experiences in past or I am gay or I have a bad disease. I was told that at the interview. Later I sucked at interview because of all all this. :(
