Why do people ask about marriage at job interviews? :/

1. To understand candidate better.
2. To gauge candidate's level of commitment, responsible behavior and maturity to handle awkward situations.

The reason for not doing so was also asked in the same context to know you more. Generally, its irrelevant but since it happened this time, next time onwards - be firm in approach and show your calmness by replying at ease to let them hire a confident fellow.

@sspec Thanks. But the question had nothing to do with my work. He said, 'People from our community get married early like at age of 22, so why didn't I get married yet.'
