I know; I just couldn't resist the shot.
I was raised Republican and conservative, and only came to my senses when introduced to other cultures, values, ethnicities, etc. in college. I actually voted for Nixon in 1972 in my first election. I regretted it in 1973 with Watergate.
Somehow, the rest of my family attended college, but did not learn anything outside of their books.
For the most part, they are all - especially my brother - racist, sexist, nationalist, and any other negative mindset that you can think of.
I try to make a point of only seeing them about once a year, and try to steer the conversation away from politics - not always successfully, unfortunately.
