Have we got this "rights" thing all wrong?

I really do get that people have rights. Have all the rights you want, I don't care. But what about me right to be protected as a member of society from the excesses of everyone elses rights? Where to their "rights" end and their "Responsibilities " kick in.?
Forget "The Law" . If I do no harm I should be free to do anything I choose.. But the moment I cross that line and do harm, the whole weight of society should justly land on me. No wonder people want to go dig bunkers in the mountains.
Own all the guns you want. But be licenced for them and responsible for their security, OR ELSE!. Do all the drugs you want.. But hurt someone while you are high and that adds years to your sentence. lots of years..Its not about rights.. Its about your responsibility to society.

owning a gun is one thing....... committing an act of violence with a gun is a whole different thing...... many people just dont comprehend that difference.

@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy actually owning a hun does come with responsibilities like keeping it in a locked safe so it doesn't fall in the hands of children or the criminal element. Not using for violence doesn't mean you can't be guilty of criminal negligence.

@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy I completely get it. On the other hand. Do harm with a firearm that is not in self defence and forfeit your freedom. Hows that?
@whowasthatmaskedman in north carolina, felons can not legally own a firearm, many still do because they dont care about the law. i agree with that. too bad so many in our society do not concern themselves with the law.
