How far back can you remember?

I actually find people's answers to this fascinating. If you sit down and think about it, what is your first memory of your life?

[c=#7700B2]my first memory I think was getting really upset at a shop because I wanted a doll.. lol[/c]

I hope you still have that doll for your parents sake!
I am crawling along a white passageway on cream tiles, with light coming through Venetian blinds over French doors on one side.
Ahead is the bedroom of my mother, and I can see her sitting at her dressing-table applying make-up to her face.
When I reach her, I use her chair to pull myself upright
and ask questions about her lipstick and perfume.
I am mezmerised by them.

What's yours?

@hartfire wow..that is very specific. What is it with children and cosmetics??
@Laughman I don't know.
Maybe because children are naturally inquisitive and inclined to try things out, especially bright colours and attractive fragrances.
I think my focus on the make-up helped attract her attention to me.

@hartfire I don't remember playing with make up etc, though I thought shaving cream coming out of the can was great fun!

One thing I do remember about my childhood is a dream I had with my dad in it. We were walking along next to these massive electricity towers. If you stood under the wires our would be electrocuted! Needless to say I tripped over and knocked dad under the wires and he was electrocuted. Sorry dad :/ but it was fine in the end as I grabbed the hose from the back of the house and hosed the electricity off him. Not as scratch on him:)

I think mine was when I was about maybe 4. My parents were getting the floor done in our kitchen. I remember running down our hallway then the next thing I knew I was on my ass covered in floor glue. I started to cry and had a very confused feeling come over me. The thing is I have no idea what happened after that the rest of the episode is blank. From memory the workers weren't too impressed either... sorry guys.

I was about three or four. I remember making my own flower garden with my grandfather on a nice, sunny day.

@Laughman I remember the flowers, watering them, and the warmth of the sun. It is such a cherished memory. TY for this question.

I find a lot of people I ask mention a traumatic event or something very emotional for them at the time..ie not getting the lolly, afraid of the dark etc..there are not too many happy first memories.
I remember from when I was three..... my father being an abusive dick...... the same dick head bring me home a kitten...... and trying on my mothers green sequined dress and feeling amazing in it. lol then some blank spots
