Why is it so hard to spell correctly?

LEARN YOUR ONLY NATIVE LANGUAGE PROPERLY! You're not saving time by typing out 1 letter instead of 3 either. We're using keyboards, not 90's cellphones. Jeez.
Guessing you are a grammar Nazi. I am rather use to misspelled words. Many are in a hurry, or this is not their first language. Some even misspell on purpose. 馃
@OnixBre My best friend years ago, was extremely bright and intelligent. But she was unable to spell, due to a disability caused by her mother beating her all the time. So, I find it is better not to judge others on their spelling.

I commend you for knowing English so well. But perhaps you are judging a tad too harshly.

@JustLikeGreta As bad as it is, that is an excuse that large majority cannot use. A language as our main communicational tool has been developed since the existence of humanity. Dumbing this down on purpose is equal to a crime against humanity. Plus, English is one of, if not the simplest modern language today. No excuse.
@OnixBre I admit sometimes bad spelling irks me. But I always remember my friend, who was so embarassed by her spelling.

Why did we come up with shorthand, abbreviations, and acronyms if not to use them? Sometimes it takes too long to spell everything out.

I don鈥檛 mind if people use shortened versions of a word or phrase, as long as I know and understand what they鈥檙e saying. Occasionally they have to explain.

Took me awhile to figure out what smh and fml meant. I kept seeing everybody use them. I had no idea.

I do my best. English isn't my first langauge.

@plague Then you're fine. Unless you use "r" "u" and other letters as words. For native speakers though, there is no excuse.

@OnixBre I try not to use those. A lot of my problems are grammar based.
