To what extent is a woman having a baby is putting a man in a position he doesn't want to be in....seeing that she's carrying the child.

Well it may not be physically putting him in a position but the thought is he should be in the child’s life for the rest of the child’s life and based purely on this question, it wasn’t a planned pregnancy. (If this is even a real situation.) So financially it could put him in a strained position. He may not have seen himself with the mother of the child for the rest of his life. Parents make sacrifices, there is no denying this and he may not be ready for those sacrifices.
