Do you think it's mean to not want to meet the new neighbors?

They've only been there for a week. I saw one of the people yesterday, but we were both in our cars; (I was coming home and they were about to leave). This is the 4th family to live in the house next door since we've lived here (15) years. We've had weird, standoffish neighbors (Which I probably look like to the new ones since I haven't introduced myself), we've had neighbors with a bunch of kids, playing in our yard and driveway, leaving their bikes and toys in both. We've had loud, rambunctious neighbors, whom other neighbors often called the police on as they were always fighting. Now their are these people. I don't want to meet them. I don't want new neighbors. I don't want neighbors period. Think I'm mean for not wanting to introduce myself, know their names, or even at this point, wave when I see them? I hate being "obligated" to wave at people I see often and in passing like neighbors, the mailman etc.

I just want to live in solitude, on an island or something. On a lot of land.馃彎

If you don't want to pretend you're friendly with neighbours, you don't have to.

@wafertime I wouldn't call it pretending. I am actually friendly, believe it or not, I just have had too many people coming and going out my life. I HATE surface level talk and relationships and this will be another one. "hey how are ya", "cold out here huh? have a good one" ...so tiring...
