It's not really mean, it's perfectly normal to enjoy privacy and peace. Especially after having bad experiences with neighbors in the past.

@wafertime I wouldn't call it pretending. I am actually friendly, believe it or not, I just have had too many people coming and going out my life. I HATE surface level talk and relationships and this will be another one. "hey how are ya", "cold out here huh? have a good one" ...so tiring...
