I am HOPING to get back in touch with a friend. Last I knew he and his family lived in South Lake Tahoe, California.

When I moved away from South Lake Tahoe, he agreed to hold on to some of my stuff for what I planned on being about 1 year, and HOPED would be 2 years, at most. As of July, it has been 7 years. Picky Detail added later: It was late June 2010 when I moved away from Tahoe. :/ Though, I doubt saying July earlier was what threw anybody off.
