I believe he is right for 30% of the population.

In the US. millions of people have been mesmerized by the corporate entertainment media complex. They stare into their smart phones. The entire culture has been dumbed down by the avalanche of trivial entertainment, spectator sports, silly comic book movies, porn, etc.

People have been diverted from thinking as adults about serious subjects such as war and peace, democracy and dictatorship, the rising inequality of wealth, state of the environment, etc. Instead of being engaged citizens they are passive consumers.

@badminton The Romans also went through it. A period of "Bread and Circuses" for the common people, to keep them docile while the rich attended orgies and left town. Sound familiar at all?😷

A very sad commentary. I look at the polls in my own country showing a right wing nationalist party leading and can have no confidence that it would be different here today.

I first heard this when I was 16 and it is still relevant today.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

And... are you going to give us any clue as to what they ARE, or just make vague declarations?
