It should be legal to sell your own organs.

I have two kidneys and I only need one. Someone out there is about to have no kidneys and they only need one. But I probably won't give them mine because there's nothing in it for me. What's the good in that?

In theory I agree... people should be able to sell their part, just like one in theory can sell their blood, sperm or eggs.

I think the reason they made it illegal (just guessing here) is because people were either selling other people kidneys, or doing sh!tty surgery and people were getting injured or killed or having great regrets due to sh!tty work...

But if you could regulate the high quality of the surgery taking it out, I agree people should be able to sell them.

Also, is the problem of rich people skipping the line just to buy them... which I'm not sure they should just go to the highest bidder, which is the other issue, and underground places will be set up to sell to the highest bidder.

@Viper If you want to, you could just overlay the "highest bidder" system on top of the donor one we already have and virtually nothing would be lost. It sucks that some rich fuck has a better shot at life bc they could put up 100 grand for a lung or whatever, but preventing them from doing so doesn't save the poor fuck who can't.

From what I've read, the reason why it's illegal really did seem like it just stemmed from an instinctive fear of commodifying parts of the human body, which I think is very natural but probably not strictly morally defensible.
