My Shoplifting arrest story

The day started with a trip to the mall, and some ambition to get a few new things. Being stupid I made a bad choice. A off duty Female Solider helped a Store manager make a citizens arrest on me.

I walked into a retail store (I would rather not say) and looked around a bit. Looking at the prices and thinking, (I don't want to pay 60 dollars for this top) among a few other items, I decided to try to get my own discount. Thinking I could do it, I went into the dressing room, and took some some ta off. I put the items in a bag I had from another store. Unbeknownst to me, the manager and I believe even another shopper (we'll get to that later) were on to me. I left the fitting room, and walked around for a bit, acting like I was still looking to do more "Shopping". I walked out of the store, and I heard a female voice say "Excuse me ma'am" I would like you to come back into the store with me to clear up a matter of some items" I was like "Oh crap!" I hesitated a little thinking, "I really don't want to be arrested or anything". I became scared and started to ignore her", and walk away slowly. She said again "Ma'am, I need you to stop and come back inside the store with me" I still ignored her. Then a younger woman from the store came in fort of me and said "I needed to stop and comply". At this time I began walking away trying to get around her, and she still blocked me and said "Ma'am, I'm military" (She was in the army I later found out, and she was 19). At this time I really began to panic, and pushed her, trying to get away. I thought maybe I could get away, and tried. She then grabbed me, and I tried to push her off. She said " I was under citizens arrest" I pushed her again, and took me hard to the ground. We wrestled on the ground, and she put me in a hold, until I got too tried to resist anymore. I was still trying to resist a little, even though I was ready to stop fighting and comply at that point. She said I needed to stop resisting, and she is placing me under arrest. I am like you're arresting me!? What!? I was really tired. She held me there, and all kinds of things were going through my mind. My job, my boyfriend, etc... She rolled me onto my stomach and held me there until a Police Woman showed up, handcuffed me, and arrested me.

You have got to be careful. There are always people who might intervene, and have the need to help. Her especially being in the military, I'm sure she felt the need to help. Even though she was young she still has training, and women are tough. You probably should have just put your hands behind your back, when she began to help, but I am Just glad she submitted you, instead of hurting you. I know it must have been embarrassing, and you didn't really deserve that much embarrassment, for only a few things. But she felt the need to help.
Glad it was only a fine for you. Don’t mess with those military woman.
@WaafaS Lawyer cost more than that shirt.

Hold on a second. You didn't even attempt to buy the items you were attempting to try to change the tags on? I don't see how anyone could have arrested you, you technically did nothing wrong. You left the items looked around and left.
WaafaS · 26-30, F
@Theliberal No, I took the items out of the store.

don't get yourself in trouble with the law, it's not worth losing your freedom.
WaafaS · 26-30, F
@SW-User It's been almost a year, but I still think about it a lot.

If you have the money, just pay for the items. Getting caught shoplifting is not worth the hassle.

Better to pay and walk out with your dignity than to have to deal with a fine or worse later.

@RedBaron True.

Maybe if you lifted weights you would’ve been able to get away. I hope your interaction with the police went easier!
WaafaS · 26-30, F
@Shivaniii Yeah, but I think she had good training.
WaafaS · 26-30, F
@Shivaniii Yeah, I just rolled onto my stomach at that point. She already had me bent into a pretzel, anyways.

@NativePortlander1970 Almost choking me unconscious, and rolling me on my stomach? It's not even like she's a cop anyways.
