The old "fraudulent check for your item" scam

Didn't fall for it, but when my dad was attempting to sell his boat on Craigslist a couple of years ago, that happened...upon receiving the check, the return address didn't match that of the person sending the emails, nor did the personal info on the check, and the check itself was for a larger amount than agreed upon. Needless to say, I immediately caught on that it was a scam and made sure the local fraud department heard about it!
