Silver-tongued Defendant
I love this
The defendant in a criminal fraud case eloquently expressed her sincere remorse. The prosecutor points out she had a thirty-year criminal record, and that she was currently begging for mercy because she was dying from cancer.
She’s not remorseful. She doesn’t have a cancer diagnosis.
But the pearl drops when the Judge asks if she wants to speak. She does.
She says, “judge, I’m sorry for what I did, past and future.”
The judge asks her to repeat her statement and she does. Exactly. …”what I did, past and future.”
