Here we go again ☹️

Another mass shooting, actually two of them by the same guy... over 20 people killed in two shootings by the same guy.

I read that he told the docs he was hearing voices...

How do we keep ignoring people's mental health? There are certain issues that require being taken very seriously. Not everyone that is schizophrenic is dangerous, but they should be handled with care and respect. We shit on our mentally ill and they kill themselves or others. I've felt suicidal and reached out and it was traumatic enough that I'll never reach out again. I'll never say a peep.

Also, he was military. A firing instructor. How the hell did someone not help him?

@Ontheroad They've been doing this for hundreds of years, when are we going to stop them?

@AlchemyFox mental illness is the common factor in all mass shootings.

it's weird I goto the link provided and it says
Maine mass shooting live updates: At least 16 killed, massive manhunt underway for Army sergeant
where did over 20 people killed come from
Ontheroad · M
@Tetsuya That was the original estimate since updated, but still uncertain.
Tetsuya · 51-55, M
@Ontheroad maybe we should all abide by the 24hr rule before we start declaring body counts
JSul3 · 70-79
Maine Gun Laws:

No required background checks.

No permit required to carry.

No 'red flag' law.

No high capacity magazine ban.
JSul3 · 70-79
@Tetsuya Actually no. I copied it verbatim off of the tv screen of the news I was watching.
Tetsuya · 51-55, M
@JSul3 probably from a AP script they're all using
JSul3 · 70-79
@Tetsuya Could very well be.

IMO, any magazine above 6 is high capacity....but that is just me.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
Its just so sad 😞
Ontheroad · M
@Gangstress And sadder still, we can't seem to do anything about it.
Ynotisay · M
@Ontheroad We can though. Other countries have. But we don't.
Ontheroad · M
@Ynotisay Okay, if we can, how do we do it? I'm all ears.
Neoerectus · M
US is now The Shooting Gallery reality show....
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
So tired of the same story playing out every week.

This guy had red flags out the wazoo...Told people his plans and STILL no one did a thing about it.
Ontheroad · M
@JaggedLittlePill It's insane, and yet because of a certain minority here in the U.S., we do nothing but talk.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
It’s so awful
Ontheroad · M
@iamonfire696 It was, at least it was for me, sad a couple of hours ago. Now I'm angry at every last pro-gun and anti-mental healthcare idiot in our country.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@Ontheroad Yah, I already posted on another thread what the process is to get a gun in Canada. It takes a minimum of 45 days.

I see he was a firearms instructor but he was having mental health issues that were ignored. That should have been flagged with his license suspended and guns removed.
Ontheroad · M
@iamonfire696 Exactly. Flagged, guns confiscated, put on a national registry to prevent firearms ownership, and given all the mental healthcare necessary.
Lilnonames · F
Biden letting in all these terrorists
@Ontheroad One thing the American mass media deliberately omits from their news is that nearly every single mass shooting takes place in areas restricting the possession of firearms, "No Guns Allowed" signs posted, giving shooters a heads up that they will most likely not have any resistance from an armed citizen stopping them. Second, the democrats actually have no real tangible desire to get rid of guns, they put their gun control bills through legislation knowing they'll be challenged in the courts, they just want a record of which elected officials vote which way so that they can get it on official record. They also salivate at the shootings because they use them their political advantage to get votes while they spew disinformation, dead people, specially kids, means campaign dollars and re-election.
Ontheroad · M
@NativePortlander1970 And? Of course, cowards go to where the least expect resistance and have a chance of high body counts. The mass killers are cowards and most of them have mental issues... neither of which means they are stupid.

Your blah, blah, blah means nothing.
@Ontheroad I am so sick and tired of the mental health angle always being used as an excuse, as well as cowardice. These people snap over one thing or another, whether it's getting back at bullies at work/school, a road rage incident, the ever increasing costs of goods, services, and housing, as well as the toddler temper tantrums televised during Congressional hearings isn't helping either. Prove me wrong.
