In Case You're Confused About What We're Dealing With

This is typical of the divide we're dealing with. The more outrageous their behavior is, the more the base loves it.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) boasted Wednesday that she told a reporter to “go back to your country” after being asked about the disparity in gun violence between the U.S. and the U.K.

“We don’t have guns in the U.K., that is true, but we don’t have mass shootings either,” a woman, whose identity was unclear, asked Greene at a press conference, according to a clip the congresswoman posted to Twitter. “Children aren’t scared to go to school.”

Greene, flanked by other pro-gun House Republicans, including Reps. Lauren Boebert (Colo.) Thomas Massie (Ky.) and Andrew Clyde (Ga.), replied: “You have mass stabbings, lady. You have all kinds of murder and you’ve got laws against that.”

“Nothing like the same rates here,” the reporter replied.

“Well, you can go back to your country and worry about your no guns. We like ours here,” Greene said.

And then she proudly tweeted:

When British press wants to argue about our God-given American gun rights, my answer is: “go back to your own country.” pic.twitter.com/QrcA9Apbet

God was embarrassed, but he's fictional, so it doesn't count.
God given right.
I do love that line, must have been the eleventh commanment, or an appendix in the event of guns being invented after the the first edition of the ten commandments.
Maybe they should do a sequel, Moses as a gun totting, flag waving Republican.
Moses II : The next testament!

@Mindfulness Standard reply for a Christian Nationalist, they want to make America a non-secular Nation with laws governed by their religion, can we all say it together, Christian Sharia Law. Little does she realize that under them, she would be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, a cookin' and a cleanin' for her Man like a good little wifey😖
@spjennifer Common sense seems in short supply these days.

Just more proof that Republicans love their guns more than they love their children. MTG is the shining example.

I think of it as the WWE base, and these voters flock to it for just the same reason, and it's not even just for the spectacle and ridiculousness, it's because most of these people don't feel like they have a tribe otherwise, and a "raaarr my dude is the meanest mf in the arena" interaction is the most compelling substitute for social interaction in their lives.

The actual principles are secondary window dressing, they rally around Maga because it lets them pose

On the flip side, the reason a lot of these people feel they have no tribe is because the left has been chasing votes through the identity politics game for too long. There needs to be a return to individual rights, responsibilities and respect across both sides, otherwise they are going to both just keep claiming they are reacting to the other side

@plungesponge This cannot be blamed on left wokeness. There really are no "good guys on both sides" in this case.
plungesponge · 41-45, M
@Northwest it looks to me like MAGA has drifted far further from Republican values than the wokesters have drifted from liberalism, and Trump is in a whole league of his own with seemingly no principles beyond self interest, but it also looks to me like the extreme left is more likely to drive moderates to vote Republican than Trump's MAGA mania is like to drive moderates to vote Democrats, and the reason is that despite how corrupt and mindless Trump clearly is as a politician, his ineptness actually reduces public fear of his persona, whereas wokism shows up in people's daily lives in ways they feel powerless to stop. I'm not saying there is an equal real threat between them, but the perception is definitely there that one douchebag billionaire leading a unruly pack of deplorables might be preferable to an organised political movement that has been brewing in academia for decades and has shown considerable success overturning institutions.
Northwest · M
@plungesponge I agree to a point, but it's not based on reality. It's PR driven, and primarily relies on the fact that the bulk of the "uneducated" (and Trump loves the uneducated), have been trying to go to a single source for information: Fox and their entourage.

Trump spent his entire term telling his followers, the "uneducated", that all other news sources are treasonous, and there's one one source for the truth: the one anointed by Trump.

In reality, Portland did not burn, and Seattle did not burn. How do I know? I live in Seattle, and go to Portland often, for fun. Also, the extreme left did not take over both cities, or San Francisco (where I hail from). It's all in the perspective, but it's not something I expect people who hear about from certain media, to understand.

It's often important to have poles, for without them, you don't get places closer to the middle, where life if tolerable. The real problem, is that the "conservative" side, lives mostly adjacent to their pole, and they destroyed all bridges, while the "liberal" side, lives mostly in moderate climates.

How do we cross the divide? We. mostly can't because they destroyed most bridges.

Republicans are insane and have no interest in governing. Exhibit #897,527,045,914,683.

This is exactly what cons fantasize about:

@Vin53 Make no mistake that it is WHITE Rambo Jesus. The WHITE is important when you are creating a White Christian Ethnostate.
Northwest · M
@Vin53 This guy looks awfully light skinned for a Middle Eastern Jew.

American exceptionalism...
Ain't she special?
spjennifer · 61-69, T
The sane ones of us know perfectly well what we're dealing with, she's about as dumb as a rock and much less useful 😖
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@spjennifer She is the kind of person who would gladly kill another and actually feel good about it.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@windinhishair I'm pretty sure you're right, never know though, I've seen some really macho "killers" who once they're on the battlefield will totally break down after their first kill, impossible to tell till it actually happens the first time.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@spjennifer I have no doubt. And some will be troubled by what they have done for the rest of their lives. I highly doubt MTG is one of those. She seems to proundly enjoy hurting others.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
It's what stupid people say when they have no real, valid reply 'Go back to your own country'.
Only other morons would vote for a moron like her.
TrunkZ · 56-60, M
She really owned the Brits there with that gem 🙄🙄
SW-User
@TrunkZ Hehe but, as @Northwest pointed out, the base love that sort of thing. Millions of people probably truly believe she owned the Brits with that gem🙄🙄
TrunkZ · 56-60, M
@SW-User sad but true 😔😔
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
She is an insensitive twit.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
