I Have Compassion For Others

I just got done watching a documentary on a mass shooting that happened in my area a few years back. I remember being horrified on that day that it happened *here.* In our city. That doesn't happen "here." It always happened "there." Not here. I didn't know what to think at the time. Because it was in a church, I remember thinking I wonder if it was a digruntled member. I remember thinking well, maybe there weren't so many people there- perhaps between services. I remember what it meant for area businesses, let alone schools. It changed us. I think it was similar to 9-11 in magnitude for US. Because it was our city. After seeing that documentary tonight, I realized this thing could happen anywhere. The shooter knew none of the people. He had nothing personal against them, other than they were not like him.

It has me thinking, when are we going to wake up and stand for what is right? When are we truly going to love others even IF they are different than we are? Just kinda pretty reflective tonight.
