Salman Rushdie has had fatwa on his head for decades.
After Rushdie was almost murdered three years ago, an Iranian government spokesman said: “We do not consider anyone other than Salman Rushdie and his supporters worthy of blame and even condemnation. By insulting the sacred matters of 1.5 billion Muslims and crossing the red lines of Muslims, Salman Rushdie exposed himself to popular outrage.”
