I see that the area is highlighted - I can't identify that has the firearm he was carrying - that being said the shooting from what has been told so far was unnecessary.
the government's claim that he was resisting violently - technically is correct - he was physically resisting - but appears to be misleading to the point of falsehood - there was no claim that he used or was in a position to use the firearm against the officer.

I've watched many videos, from various angles, and the ways I've heard and seen some people try to twist it into a "justified" shooting is preposterous.
