I Need To Check My Back Yard And Shed More Often…

A woman in my city opened her shed yesterday and discovered a man sleeping in it. She called the police to report him. Asked him why he was in her shed and he said he needed to use the bathroom so he came into her back yard. 😖.

And a man on was driving in his car & stopped at a red light, was approached by a woman demanding he give her a ride. Apparently she had been doing this to others. She reached into his open window and tried to pull him out of his car. This was in an area where a small Lion’s Club carnival is setting up things to open up. I hope people watch their children and don’t let teens go there by themselves and hang out for hours like we did when I was a teen.

I don’t know how many more incidents there were yesterday in the city, only know what is being reported on one Facebook page here. Our local newspaper never covers this sort of thing.

And oh yeah, I’ve discovered a bird feeder was stolen out of my sun room. Bought some black oil sunflower seeds to fill it up and hang on a shepherd’s hook and couldn’t find it. Remember one afternoon when I got back home from medical treatment that the screen was gone off of a window. I looked around and saw that no yard tools were taken so thought maybe a squirrel had gotten the screen off. Put alien tape on it (again) and it’s stayed up. I think that was when the bird feeder was taken. It was metal and squirrel proof, the price has gone up around $20 since I bought it and it hadn’t been used. Probably taken to the nearest Walmart for a refund to get money.

Have you considered that US cities can become too big to manage? Like if we, or anyone really, bite off more than we can chew? Maybe it happens when a city reaches its boundaries and further growth is in the suburbs with their own political structures, and the old city core become like the basement, where we put things while deciding on whether to keep them for keep-sake or throw it away? That seems to characterize so many US cities.

@Heartlander this city is not that big yet. It’s due to the fact that other cities are sending their homeless here on buses to solve their own problem with it. Some are coming from California and some from Oklahoma City and other nearby cities. I see no homeless or people pushing shopping carts in public in Moore, Oklahoma for example and it’s very close to this area.

@cherokeepatti Are you on or near major highways? We have/had relatives scattered through Oklahoma, and I also criss-crossed hundreds of times over the years.

The dust bowl era sent thousands of Okies, Kansans, Texans to California, is California now trying to unload their problem people to Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas???

@Heartlander yes I-35 goes down the west side of the city and 240 is about 22 miles north of here

@cherokeepatti I almost think that in today's world being a few miles away from main highways makes for a better place to live.

@Heartlander there are serious crimes in smaller towns now due to drugs

@cherokeepatti Hard to imagine the people letting that happen. But it does. I grew up in a sort-of big town of about 8K, where pretty much everyone knew or knew of everyone else. Like that old "In a town this size" song.
