Buttlick has his physics & materials science all wrong.
Building codes today require tempered glass in doors (maybe windows too) just like they use in car windows. Tempered glass is effectively spring-loaded so it flies in multiple directions upon breakage. And cracks in tempered glass propagate at over 1km/sec (slow mo guys), so most shards never get to feel the object that initiated the cracking.

🤣😂 I subscribe to the SF Chronicle, and today they published a detailed report about the attempted murder. Unfortunately, it's behind a firewall. Not that it takes more than 1/3rd of a properly firing neuron to figure out what happened (or I think any less of your super sleuth capability).
