In America, if you're 18, you can't buy alcohol, right? HOW THE HELL CAN YOU BUY AN ASSAULT RIFLE?!?!?!

No constitutional amendments about alcohol is why! 😞

Also why it varies by state. Here it's 21! Other states it's 18. Just like marriage age varies by states. No constitutional amendments.

@DeWayfarer no state has a legal drinking age of 18.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@AthrillatheHunt not anymore maybe. Yet in 1978 Wyoming it was exactly at 18!

It varies! I was drinking myself then.

@DeWayfarer I was a teen in NJ when they raised the limit to 21. Friends 2 years older than me got grandfathered and could continue drinking legally at 18. I had to wait till 21 .
Your comment made it sound like you were talking about now , not the 70’s.

@AthrillatheHunt was just trying to point out it's not in the constitution. That was my whole point. It varies state by state.

@DeWayfarer nah man. The fed mandated 21 and threatened to withhold federal funding from states that wouldn’t comply .
They did the same thing with the blood alcohol content for being drunk .
Lowered it from 1.0 to .8.
Texas balked and they threatened to withhold federal highway funding .
Texas soon complied .

@AthrillatheHunt different topic about the threats. Yet if texas wouldn't have gave in they still would have it. That's the whole point.

Surprised that actually hasn't been brought up in the supreme court.... Yet!

That though is a conservative issue. Since drinking is frowned on "religiously". So they might not take it up.

@DeWayfarer Texas and the fed have had a long and bumpy relationship .
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@AthrillatheHunt I know extremely well! Especially when it comes to OSHA. I both lived and worked in Texas for three years.

You wouldn't believe some of the OSHA violations going on there, since it's a so called "right to work" state.

@DeWayfarer where in the lone star state dude ?
Jimmy2016 · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer Yep, back in the day when I was 18, we use to drive to Wyoming to go drink hard alcohol at the bars...........
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@AthrillatheHunt both in and around San Antonio.

I was the last day worker in the Schertz CAT plant. Everyone else was just "let go" because they refuse to work without a lanyard.

@DeWayfarer I visited there last summer for the first time . Did 2 days at schlitterbahn in neu braufels too.
I don’t know of any other state with that type of state pride .
Tell a NYer NY sucks and they’re like “yea whatever “ .
Tell a Texan that and be prepared to throw down. Lol
