Time to celebrate tonight

My buddy sent me a text earlier saying
I fucking did it. I got them to settle.

He's been working so hard on his. This is the reason why the partners picked him for the case. The client didn't want to go to court and he got it done. He put in some long hours this week working on this!!

Funny how memory work. You just kicked one up for me.

First, WAY TO GO, Joel! Great job.

What I remembered was at 17 waitressing at a diner. Calling it a greasy spoon would have been an insult to authentic greasy spoons.

It was a Sunday, Mother’s Day, and there was also a flu epidemic going on. There should have been four of us, but I was the only one who got there.

Being Mother’s Day, we saw a lot of customers. A lot. I started at 7 for breakfast and was still on my feet a little past 10 pm or so when we finally closed

I called home to tell them I was on my way.

When I got there Mom had hot cocoa ready and Dad was upstairs running a bath. Both were necessary.

I felt SO seen and understood. Achievements are so infinitely better when recognized by people important to us.
