I Hate Child Abuse

I am forever perplexed by the 'observation' that those who have been abused are apparently more likely to abuse others later in their own lives. I think it more likely that they would be even more determined to do their bit to stop it happening to anyone else. This is usually part of what keeps them positive about going forward, and the driver behind seeking justice against the abuser. To saddle them with the probability that they too are likely to abuse must be the ultimate hurt.

Unfortunately, some abused people tend to repeat that behaviour, especially if it was the only thing they knew...others can get out of the suffering, some seek help... very hrd to deal with, when you麓ve been abused instead of loved...I pity those poor ones...馃槥

It would be interesting to see if there is actually a proven link that they are more likely to be abusers. If there are more people abused in life (and I think this likely to be the case, with the many forms of abuse there are), it follows that onward abusers are more likely to have been abused themselves. But it doesn't mean that they are more likely to commit abuse themselves?

@Valentine: I麓ve listened to some psychiatrists and psychologists on tv, about some cases of rape and domestic violence... in some of those cases, men had been abused when a child and lived in a violent home. Not all of them of course, some act just out of their own psychopathy...not easy to put in simple statements, you know there are many factors and events contributing to those pathological behaviours...

I guess that what I'm trying to flush out is that labelling them as 'more likely to abuse' is in itself a sort of abuse. Misfounded.

@Valentine: It麓s not "labelling" as in being prejudicial...it麓s just a description of reality. Nobody points a finger at them, on the contrary, doctors try to understand them better in order to take the right action..

@LadyHeartnMind: Thanks - apologies about the typo! :(
