I Question The Age Of Consent

I feel like it should be 18. Period. No one under 18 (but a grace period to up to a year for those who were together previously before turning into an adult). I also believe people over the age of 21 should not feel socially acceptable to date anyone younger.

Reason, the mental development at those ages are so vast, that it feels more along the lines of taking advantage of someone that is mentally incompetent.

This is just my opinion. I will pass this law when I rule Poland.

Ha! The older i get the higher i feel the age of consent should be. But deep down i know it means nothing bc our society doesnt care about predators or protecting the vulnerable.

I think its hard to define mental maturity. I think the meaning is when is an individual capable of making autonomous choices?

However, i think this is something people struggle with all their lives. Maturity takes a long time.

Arguably, you may say making sexual mistakes or allowing such relationships can help people progress to autonomy...

The frontal lobe doesn’t finish forming until 23 for females and 25 for men. That is fact. It is possible to measure mental maturity with the development of the brain. It’s called “science”. @Gouzi

@MorbidCynic So, by definition everyone is mature by 25 & 23?
That is obviously not true. Maturity also refers to moral development. This varies from individual to individual regardless of age.
