Pentagon plans live streaming of military’s first execution since 1961

Kegsbreath vows to publicly display the firing squad execution of the Fort Hood shooter.

Kegsbreath continues to display really poor judgment—as he has done since he was confirmed.

Most countries had abandoned public executions as long ago as the late 19C; so I was surprised to learn there was one in the USA as late as the 1930s.

They were ghastly forms of "entertainment" of limited judicial or deterrent value, attracting large crowds even when the past, extraordinarily cruel forms of judicial killing had been replaced by slightly more humane ones.

In this case the crime was the cowardly murders of thirteen unarmed men; a type of crime sadly and strangely more common in the USA than any country, outside of political or sectarian motives. So it is right that Americans must debate the rightness of capital punishment for such crimes within their own nation, which includes states that still use it.

Nevertheless, Peter Hegseth's idea of making the execution into an anti-social media sensation for the world's ghouls is appalling, especially as the method is deliberately, revoltingly barbaric - and I fear possibly not instant. The United Nations has already, openly condemnned his proposal, calling it "torture".

We can all hope sense and common decency will prevail. So that if the man is executed, he is killed within the prison walls with no more than the absolute minimum of authorised personnel present, no other witnesses, no Press, and no photography (still or video) or sound recording allowed by anyone.

Otherwise Hegseth risks lowering the domestic and world-wide reputation of his own nation, the United States of America, towards the level of the rulers of Iran or Afghanistan; or that of the ISIS thugs placing their beheading videos on-line.

JD Vance is now saying he doubts the execution will be live streamed and if it is he won’t watch it…

Could there be a fraying of the misadministration from hell?

@whowasthatmaskedman I agree murders like these are utterly beyond the pale, but I don't support capital punishment (though I take your point about the cost of keeping someone jailed for life).

At least if we do use capital punishment it must be, as you say, humane - I am not sure death by firing squad is alll that humane.

The worst aspect of this case though is Peter Hegseth wanting to televise the execution, to turn it into a sick "entertainment". All anyone needs know is that the sentence was carried out.

@ArishMell I absolutely agree. America is making a spectacle of this event for political gain and every American should be appalled and ashamed of that aspect of it..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman If you take in the costs of the legal process of multiple mandatory appeals and other hidden costs in the United States at least it’s been shown to be two to 2-1/2 times more expensive for the average execution than for life imprisonment without possibility of parole.

@KunsanVeteran IIRC, Hasan continued to draw his Major (O - 4) pay and other financial benefits for quite some time after being imprisoned.

Eventually there was a court action to stop them.

Nope... Just Nope.. This is not to say the man doesnt deserve the penalty. He certainly knew the risk when he committed the appalling crime. But no way this should ever be public. Thats Barbaric. And thats what America has come to...😷
@whowasthatmaskedman I agree but there’s another way to look at this. Hasan wants the death penalty, or at least he did back in 2009 when he represented himself at his trial and pleaded guilty. That would make him a martyr.

A public execution especially if disrespectfully live streamed would infuriate any Islamic terrorists and put a new target on the backs of Americans—especially our military members. And it would accomplish nothing useful and only encourage Kegsbreath’s bloodlust and sadistic cravings…

That is why President Obama had Bin Laden executed at sea and buried at sea.

@KunsanVeteran I accept all of this, with the rider that I believe Bid Laden actually died on the ground in Pakistan. But his body was dumped at sea to give him no monument or marker around which followers could rally. A reasonable thought..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman You are correct! He was shot at his compound.

He has terrible attitudes and his main skill in incompetency.
@FreddieUK Have you seen his (Un) fitness video of him trying to keep up with Marines exercising?

Damn! He looks like he was drunk on top of being unfit! And his mascara was running!
@KunsanVeteran His mascara was running faster than he was!
@ArishMell Kegsbreath and Demented Donnie are trying to turn us into North Korea, I guess.

@KunsanVeteran Dreadful thought... There is the eerie family parallel on the Trump side.
@ArishMell I just watched a YouTude video where they did an extensive interview with an anesthesiologist concerning the blotched lethal injection attempted execution in Tennessee.

It dawned on me that if anyone, anywhere could blotch an execution by firing squad it would be Kegsbreath…

@MoveAlong Truth be told, I suspect Kegsbreath is even more unstable than Demented Donnie himself—especially when he’s been drinking but before he passes out…
