After tRump lost his first case to Carroll, he had to put the $5 million in escrow before he could file an appeal. Judge Kaplan controls the escrow account, and after tRump was denied a hearing by SCOTUS, the judge has directed that the escrow money plus interest go to Carroll.
To billionaire tRump, $5 million he already paid into escrow is insignificant. So it's just strange that he's so upset about ending the case in a loss!
@KunsanVeteran Yeah, maybe the reason tRump's lawyers are trying to keep this case pending is that it being finalized will weigh against him in the $83 million case.
@ElwoodBlues He has opened the door to follow-on defamation cases already. Given his recent disclosures of the vast illegal increases to his personal fortune since January 2025, he could be looking at some really eye poppin’ punitive damages!
