Attorney General Pam Bondi appeared before the House Judiciary Committee and told Congress that convicted trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell was transferred to "the same level facility."
That claim is provably false. Bureau of Prisons records show FCI Tallahassee is a low-security federal correctional institution while FPC Bryan in Texas is a minimum-security prison camp - two entirely different classification levels.
Representative Deborah Ross pressed Bondi on who authorized the transfer, noting that BOP policy explicitly bars offenders with Maxwell's conviction from minimum-security placement. Bondi said she wasn't involved and learned about it after the fact, then repeatedly tried to redirect the conversation. Ross wasn't having it: "You're here to testify. That is your job today." Meanwhile, trafficking survivors sat in the hearing room, and every single one of them raised their hand when asked if the DOJ had ignored their attempts to make contact. Maxwell's own lawyer has publicly offered her full cooperation in exchange for presidential clemency, and Trump has never ruled out a pardon.
